AM4 upgrade or an AM5 platform?

Editorial specification comparison · checked 23 October 2026

Six cores and twelve threads do not make these interchangeable upgrades. The 5600X uses AM4 and DDR4; the 7600 uses AM5 and DDR5. Include motherboard, memory and cooling in the platform cost.

Existing AM4 support depends on the exact motherboard and BIOS. Check cooler mounting too. Physical fit does not establish full compatibility.

AMD lists a Wraith Stealth with this 5600X BOX. Use the PC-builder for a first check, then verify unresolved points in the manuals. Clocks and TDP are not measured performance or power results.

CPU clocks are not a gaming score

Compare the socket, memory platform and cooling first. Core count and maximum boost describe the processor; they do not predict frame rates. TDP is a thermal design figure, not measured wall consumption. Check the motherboard CPU-support list and required BIOS.
